ENCYCLOPEDIA

CONCEPTUAL HOTBED

Organizational axiomatics

  • Why anything that exist is/has an organization which is a cycle, an (efficient) circular causality loop ?

Naming circular reactions

  • All the notions which are intrinsically supportive of the idea a re-turn, re-cognition, re-presentation of anything

The psychological organization

  • Why we should think of any individual as an ecosystem of perception-action cycles ?

The perception-action cycle (pac) as a solution to the mind-body problem

  • Why the cyclic unity of perception and action is the key to embodiement ?

Synthetic psychology : the unity of mental processes

  • How can representations, emotions and desires be aspects of one and the same process ?

Cycles interaction dynamics

  • Why resonance phenomena should also be of concern for psychology ?

Imitation

  • Why behavioral and mental reproduction is a tendancy (i.e. a compulsive habit) ?

Assimilation

  • Why is recognition at the heart of all mental processes ?

Imitation and attribution of causality : the sacrificial construction of reality

  • How do we build reality through the mimetic reproduction (consensual validation) of accusations ?

OPEN FIELDS

Imitation theory

  • The conceptual field of imitation is currently in a state of chaos (see Chater & Hurley, 2005) because of the huge number of constructs invoked in order to explain (i.e. reduce) mimetic phenomena.
  • "Imitation theory" is rooted in the idea that there do exist a mimetic tendency which is not reducible to any simple mechanism like say, environmental reinforcement or any kind of cognition. Imitation is not a mere capacity, it's a tendency.
  • What is (are) the mechanism(s) behind such a tendency ? Why are most of the current mechanisms proposed misleading at best ? A tentative answer is that most of them are mere phenomena which have been reified as cause when, in fact, they give us no explanation at all. The rest of them are indeed mechanisms but they simply fall short of any serious explanation of imitation. Behaviorist models belongs to that category.
  • The first step required seems to be a systematic attempt to discard such misconceptions. I propose to elaborate a systematic criticism of the "euphemisms of imitation" as well as the other flawed mechanisms hypothesized behind mimetic phenomena.
